About RezzOS

RezzOS is an independent, lightweight Linux distribution built from the ground up with a focus on simplicity, transparency, and performance. Unlike traditional distributions that carry decades of legacy code, RezzOS is designed to be minimal by default, providing an instant-use environment that doesn't sacrifice functionality.

At its core, RezzOS relies on the musl C standard library and BusyBox core utilities. By avoiding the heavy footprint of glibc and GNU coreutils, we achieve significantly lower memory usage, faster boot times, and a much smaller attack surface. This makes RezzOS an ideal candidate for virtualization, containerization, embedded systems, and older hardware.

For process supervision and system initialization, RezzOS utilizes runit. The init system is entirely script-based, highly reliable, and incredibly fast, avoiding the complexities and overhead associated with modern service managers.

Package management in RezzOS is handled by a custom, fully static implementation of Alpine's apk package manager. This allows users to tap into Alpine's vast repositories of musl-compatible software while maintaining complete control over the system's binaries.

Our mission is to provide developers, power users, and enthusiasts with a clean, predictable, and hackable operating system. Whether you are building a custom appliance or simply want a fast desktop environment, RezzOS gives you exactly what you need—and nothing you don't.
